Scuffles broke out at anti-lockdown rallies in Athens and Thessaloniki
Hundreds of protesters broke lockdown restrictions on mass gatherings, with many resorting to running away from the rally when the police showed upwardly, in a bid to avoid a fine for breaking the lockdown.
In recent developments, the Athens metropolitan area was placed under an extended lockdown earlier in the calendar week following concerns that the Greek health service was under strain from increased hospital admissions. The regions of Achaia and Evia have also been placed on a hard lockdown as of Friday.
According to the latest data compiled on Sunday by the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, Hellenic Republic has seen a total of 172,128 cases of COVID-19 to-date with 6,126 related deaths.
