Global Britain in the Global Order: UK Foreign and Security Policy after Brexit
On 16 March 2021, the UK government published the Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy, the first major strategy document since the UK left the European Union the yr before. The document is intended to set the direction of UK foreign, security and defence policy for years to come and shape the UK’s role in the world.
In light of the Integrated Review, this panel testament examine comprehensively the implications of Brexit on some of the key aspects of UK foreign, security and defence policy, including the UK’s future collaboration with the European Union, its relationship with NATO, the cyber dimension and the role of the defence industry. It testament bring together a broad variety of scholars at the School of Security Studies working on different areas of foreign, security and defence policy.
This breadth of research testament allow the panel to offer new insights into the current state of affairs and explore the UK’s role in the evolving global order five years after the country voted to leave the European Union.
