CHIAPAS MEXICO – EXPLORING CAÑÓN del SUMIDERO and CHIAPAS de CORZO #travelvlog

We are in Mexico’s southernmost state of Chiapas, known for its magical landscapes, mountains, and canyons including Parque Nacional Cañón del Sumidero. This canyon stretches for about 8 miles long and rises upwards to about 1,000 meters (3,300 ft). We tour the canyon by speedboat and stop along the way to view the numerous species of birdlife and wildlife including, spider monkeys which are endangered. The canyon is impressive as its natural scenery is a unique blend of Norwegian Fjords, Arizona Grand Cayon, and the jungles of the Amazon.

Next, we see Chiapa de Corzo, a small town done in Spanish style where we essay the local cuisine. We essay the Chiapas Roasted Pork, known as “Cochito al Horno”, as good as the mole negro. This city was the first place the Spanish arrived in Chiapas in 1528.
