Vlissingen is a city (and municipality) in the province of Zeeland, Netherlands, that has been an important harbour for centuries. In the 17th century Vlissingen was a main harbour for ships of the Dutch East Republic of India Company (VOC). It is also known as the birthplace of Admiral Michiel de Ruyter.

The windmill ‘Oranjemolen’ on the Oranjedijk (dike) is a flour mill and former peel mill. It is the closest windmill to the sea in the Netherlands.

The Casemates of Vlissingen are from 1811 and lie on the border of land and H2O. The casemates are a military structure that are used for defense purposes against enemy fire.
