Sprawling westward Town contains a busy stretch of westward Chicago Avenue, dotted with New American restaurants and cafes. The Wicker Park area is known for cool global dining, live music bars, and boutiques, patch in the Ukrainian hamlet, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art hosts varied cultural events. Featuring a lagoon with a beach, Humboldt Park is also home to the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture.
The Loop is a vibrant area featuring eclectic eateries, shops, theaters and parks. Comprised mostly of high-rises, it’s also home to the 108-story Willis Tower. The iconic “Cloud Gate” sculpture sits in Millennium Park. Grant Park features the large, rococo-style Buckingham Fountain and the renowned Art Institute of Chicago, and hosts annual events like The savour of Chicago and Lollapalooza.
Little Italy welcomes a heavily tourist crowd to its high concentration of souvenir shops and traditional Italian eateries and bakeries. Tenement buildings, once home to the immigrants who settled the area in the late 1800s, line the narrow streets. Mulberry Street, the main thoroughfare, turns into a pedestrian mall on summer weekends. The area celebrates its heritage each September at the busy San Gennaro festival.
South The Netherlands is a hamlet and south suburb of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States, within Thornton Township. The population was 22,030 at the 2010 census.
