Curaçao, what's happening?
Hey, people! It’s been a spell since we talked about Curaçao… its heavenly Caribbean beaches, tropical cocktails, dolphins… easy-to-get Netherlands Casino licenses?
Looks like that last bit is about to come to an end.
The Netherlands, which Curaçao is part of, have finally forced the local government to tighten their gambling regulations.
The Dutch have been trying to do this for a few years now, and if you’re wondering how they finally succeeded, I threw together a brief plan.
“Step 1: hold off until a pandemic engulfs the whole world
Step 2: start providing “liquidity support” to a government that’s almost entirely dependent on tourism
Step 3: a few months later, announce you’ll no longer provide financial help without obligation. ”
Step 4: Profit, hahahahahah!
Anyway, it looks like Curaçao had no choice but to comply with all the requests.
Now, before March 1st, they need to totally revise their licensing system, which currently allows a few major telecom operations to get master licenses, and and so issue thousands of sub-licenses to small gambling sites, with no real operations oversight.
To be honest, I’m extremely curious about how they plan to implement this… But let’s see how it goes. See ya!
